zeuz raises €3 million from Vito Ventures and Holtzbrinck Ventures

zeuz, a Munich-based technology provider primarily specializing in multiplayer games, has just raised €3 million from Vito Ventures and Holtzbrinck Ventures. Each year, zeuz provides more than 50 million people in over 50 countries with the infrastructure that delivers the perfect multiplayer experience.

With their GPORTAL brand, the founders of zeuz have been involved in the game server business for 15 years. The team has become the world’s leading provider of game servers for games like Conan Exiles, SCUM and farming simulators. Due to GPORTAL’s tremendous success in the B2C business, developers like Funcom became aware of their high-quality products and services. The B2B business soon followed in form of a new company named zeuz.

zeuz has developed a technology that facilitates much faster clock rates compared to conventional cloud solutions, and is much more powerful as a result. All this is achieved while cutting costs by up to 60 percent.

“The IT infrastructure for multiplayer games and their global scaling are not one of the core skills of most game studios, and this prevents them from focusing on what really counts for them: developing fantastic content,” said Markus Schneider, co-founder and Managing Director of zeuz, in explaining the added value that the company delivers.Another issue is that cloud solutions cost tremendous amounts of money and frequently result in financing problems post launch.

“We provide studios with a solution that enables them to save money and, above all, technical resources,” Schneider says. “We deliver all of this in a higher quality and with the best-possible multiplayer experience.” Major studios such as Funcom and Snail Games as well as successful indie studios like Gamepires and The Farm 51 are already using zeuz technology.

The video game market continues to boom. In Germany alone, the market totaled more than €3 billion in 2017 while growing by more than 15 percent. The global market has now reached a total volume of nearly $138 billion. With the help of the new financing, zeuz is able to expand its product line further and create turnkey solutions for all important platforms.

Statements from our partners:
Tommy Oehl, the Managing Partner of Vito Ventures, said: “We are really excited about the things zeuz has already created. The team is exceptionally talented, and the technology is more than capable of conquering more than just the games market.”

Dr. Christian Saller, a Partner at Holtzbrinck, noted: “The global video game market has been growing for years and is now worth billions. zeuz’s technology is tremendously valuable to the industry. It can really improve the experience for both players and developers. We are very happy to have an opportunity to support this experienced team.”
